Balancing a wheel and tire combination is required whenever tires, wheels, or TPMS sensors are replaced. This process ensures your car will maintain a smooth and vibration free ride. Auto Union Tuning uses a Hunter Road Force wheel balancer on every wheel balance job we perform. This process is above and beyond your standard wheel balance. The Hunter Road Force Balancer uses a roller with over 1200 lbs of force applied to the wheel and tire to mimic the load of the vehicle and the road onto the wheel and tire during the balancing process. This allows our technicians to diagnose vibrations and harshness for even the most sensitive customers and vehicles.
Symptoms of an unbalanced wheel and tire will normally occur at speeds over 35 mph and can give a sensation of vibrations in the steering wheel, vibrations in the seats. Some drivers may simply believe they are driving on a bumpy road when in reality their wheels and tires are out of balance.
Low profile tires that have an aspect ratio of 40, 35, 30 or lower are much more sensitive to wheel balance imperfections.
What is a Hunter Road Force Balance?
Hunter Road Force wheel balancing is a method used to ensure your car's tires are properly balanced to prevent vibrations, improve safety, and extend tire life.
In simple terms, it involves uses a roller that simulates real-world driving conditions. The machine applies the roller to the tire while it’s spinning to detect "high" and "low" spots of the wheel and tire combination.
If there’s an imbalance or any issues, the machine tells the technician how to adjust the tire or wheel to fix it. The goal is to get the smoothest, most comfortable ride and avoid problems like uneven tire wear or shaking at high speeds.
